There are four pillars of cause-driven leadership which empower us as an organization: 1)Mission Advancement – advancing the Y’s promise to strengthen community. 2)Collaboration – working with, understanding, and developing others both inside and outside the YMCA. 3)Operational Effectiveness – ensuring relevance, effectiveness, and sustainability of our work. 4)Personal Growth – ongoing advancement to adapt to new challenges in both the staff and volunteer role.
A 2014 programmatic highlight is the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program. Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the United States and 1 in 3 people are currently at-risk of becoming diabetic. Through
this program we provide the resources and education which enables those who are at-risk of diabetes to change their lifestyle and lessen their risk. The program has shown an ability to lower the rate of Type 2
Diabetes by 58% in the adult population and 71% for those over the age of 60. As an organization we embrace these cause-driven pillars and are proud to both support and work for an organization whose cause is to develop lasting personal and social change in the community we serve. It is this ability to strengthen the community and impact the lives of so many youth, adults and families that makes the YMCA a true community asset.
